I watched your industrial revolution video. Very nice. I like all the images. Did you have the images and text ready ahead of time? My videos use text edit and a browser to see what the code does. I am glad you attached some.

thanks for posting your jings, david; they helped me (as i am struggling to put some together for my anthro classes). i was just trying mine with powerpoint (which i had to do in non-slideshow mode bc Jing wouldn't seem to work in slideshow); what did you use to get your images up there?

@ Claudia - I did have everything prepared before I began, using parts of my regular class lectures, with a little ad-libbing inserted along the way.

@ Leslie - I don't use the automatic ppoint slideshow, I manually work my way through the slides. You can see me clicking in the corner of the videos. As safe as posting them online, I have my own website/storage account at angelfire.com that I have had for over a decade now. There are lots of other better places to use, but I have had this account for over ten years already, so I have stuck with it. Is that what you mean?

Since I teach World History at MCC as well, I find your posts very interesting and helpful. I hope to learn how to use jing the way you do. I really like how you've been able to create lecture videos. What an awesome skill.

I didn't realize you could play the swf files directly - always kind of wondered what to do with them after I'd downloaded. Can't figure out how to edit them tho...

Thanks for sharing David. I sometimes make these kind of videos as well--sometimes using Jing and sometimes using camtasia. I bought a camtasia for mac program at home that gives me a bit more flexibility and nuanced control than jing. I think my process is like yours--I gather the materials in a set of slides then I work through it manually while I talk--and the talk is improvised. Watching your stuff, however, has given me all sorts of new ideas. Thanks again.

I want to make them more improvised myself and less reading. My problem is, as any of my on campus student would tell you, is that when I improvise I tend to ramble, and I only have so much time.
